The Journey

Our son, Jacob, will soon be traveling back to South Africa as an overseas missionary.

I invite you to come along and enjoy our recent conversation regarding the Global Church, missions, and a pleasant surprise discovered along the way. May it spark a greater desire within each of us to serve God wherever we go.

Here is more detailed information about his missionary work.

  1. I am a South African living in Malelane, Mpumalanga, right at the Kruger National Park. We serve at Malelane Baptist Church. Your son should visit our church and take a trip to the Park. He can safely travel with the City Bug from Oliver Tambo. We will pick him up in Nelspruit. He is most welcome. Greetings in Christ, Jo van Niekerk.

  2. I love when you do an audio! You should definitely add this to your list of talents to explore. I am so glad you asked on the topic of finding a mentor and do wish to find someone naturally who is already in service to their church to provide this mentorship. However, if you are attending a church where service seems to be secondary, I would be interested in any suggestions on locating a mentor.

    1. This is an excellent question that I will consider more deeply. I just read of a woman who disciples 5 or 6 women at a time, teaching them to memorize and obey Scripture. It is her full time mission in the United States, and as a widow, she earns her income traveling to speak to Christian women’s groups. 🤍Just think of the many lives she has changed by walking in the fruit of the Spirit, sharing God’s Word, rather than self-help literature.
